Happy National Wine Day! 🍷 Similar to wine, the origin of a colored gemstone can impact a gem’s rarity. Gems can also contain mineral inclusions unique to their place of origin. Here is an array of wine-colored gemstones, including rhodolite garnet resembling red wine, morganite which resembles rosé, pale yellow sapphire which can resemble white wine and amethyst which resembles purple grapes. Fun fact: Not only is amethyst grape-colored, it was holy to Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and was thought to prevent drunkenness. Which gemstone resembles your favorite wine?
