“I keep reminding myself that I am in the world, I occupy space, just like everyone else. I hum to myself, keep the tables tidy, talk to my friends, and doesn’t that mean something? When I go on little walks, blades of grass bend under my feet, passers-by glance at me, birds scatter. Doesn’t that mean something? Yesterday I baked, and the next day, the sweet smell lingered in the hallway. I think that means something. I think it means I am an alive thing. Theory: existence is a mirror. When we move, something else always moves, too, even if we don’t see it, even if it’s only within ourselves.
