Having both grown up in New York and obsessed with basketball, the two navigated towards being Nets fans in the 1980s, when Joseph was especially struck by Darryl Dawkins hooping in a Nets uniform. After making their best effort to attend games in New Jersey over the following decades, the team created a perfect situation for the two diehard fans when the move to Brooklyn took place in 2012.
