@GwynethPaltrow returns to the big screen in Josh Safdie’s ‘Marty Supreme’ this December alongside Timothée Chalamet—marking her first substantial film role in 15 years. When Paltrow left acting, she really left—so much so that she says she’d never seen ‘Uncut Gems’ or watched one of Chalamet’s movies. In contrast to the brawny Tom Cruises of her youth, her costar’s “a thinking man’s sex symbol,” she says. The two have quite a lot of onscreen sex, the nature of which has changed since the peak of her career, she tells @michandrews. “There’s now something called an intimacy coordinator, which I did not know existed,” she says. When the film’s coordinator asked Paltrow if she’d be okay with a particular move, “I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on.’” In VF’s April cover story, Paltrow reflects on the impact her best-actress Oscar win had on her as a young woman, the “disparity” between how she and her male counterparts were treated at the time, and her potential return to the awards circuit.
