French artist Mathieu Tremblin translates scrawled graffiti into legible typographic translations. The pieces set out to make the signatures of graffiti artists more readable, thereby encouraging passersby to take more notice of them, even though this approach goes against generally accepted graffiti etiquette, which frowns on the practice of covering another artist’s work.

“Carpoolers” by photographer Alejandro Cartagena documents the daily commute of construction workers in Mexico to work in the beds of pickup trucks. Between 2011 and 2012, photographer Alejandro Cartagena stood on a pedestrian bridge over Highway 85 in Monterrey, Mexico, each morning to photograph these images. Through this series, Cartagena exposes the realities of workers who travel long distances for modest wages, drawing attention to broader socioeconomic issues and the labor often hidden behind urban expansion. all photos by @alexcartagenamex
Madonna’s Controversial Cross Performance (2006) During her 2006 Confessions Tour, Madonna performed “Live to Tell” while suspended from a mirrored cross, wearing a crown of thorns. The act was intended to highlight the plight of children in Africa orphaned by AIDS, with a backdrop tallying their numbers.  Religious leaders worldwide condemned the performance as blasphemous. German prosecutors considered legal action, and the Vatican labeled it a “scandal created on purpose.”  Madonna defended the act, stating it was neither anti-Christian nor sacrilegious, but a plea for unity and compassion.
“Autopsy” is a photo series by photographers Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain that documents the actual trash of celebrities. They collected and organized the garbage, everything from beer to personal notes, giving an intimate view into each person’s life and habits. “It all started in 88, as a joke.” Mouron and Rostain borrowed the garbage bags of singer Serge Gainsbourg from his residence in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district in Paris. Taking it back to their studio, they scatter the contents on black velvet, and create their first piece of trashy art showing an almost cartoonish vision of the singer. photos courtesy of @bruno.mouron
Crucifixion Popsicles by Sebastian Errazuriz (2012) Artist Sebastian Errazuriz made frozen red wine popsicles and distributed them as cocktail refreshments to art gallery attendants, inviting them to “drink the Kool-Aid.” The artist claims he previously carried the frozen wine popsicles to church, concealed inside a cooler, where they were then inadvertently blessed by the priest while he was turning wine into the blood of Christ during the Eucharist.
