First Look: Kristen Stewart waited her whole life to direct ‘The Chronology of Water.’ The film, which will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16, is an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s moving 2011 memoir about her childhood trauma, alcoholism, and the transformative power of writing. From the moment she read it, Stewart knew that she had to make it into film: “It became a sacred text for me overnight.” But it took her eight years to finally get there.
