One of the big draws of @newtaipeikings was how much the leaders wanted our team to be about more than basketball. @philchen913 and @maomao31 wanted to be a team that reflected love, prayer and faith. In December 2024, our team chaplain @_claydanner_ posted on IG about his 12-years of being cancer-free. @wushown , a loyal Kings fan since 2021, reached out and expressed to Clay how much his post encouraged him as he had just found out he had stage 4 cancer and was on his third round of chemo. Clay got to share Psalm 23 with Shawn and said that he would be praying for him. In May, Shawn finally completed his chemo and radiation treatments and felt strong enough to come watch the Kings play in person. The team arranged for special seats for Shawn’s family at our final home game and I got to meet Shawn and his family (including his son who they named Jeremy). Even better, just this past week, Shawn was given the news that he is now cancer-free! When we see everything that’s going on in the world right now it can be very easy to feel hopeless. These glimpses of hope and connection remind me that God is still at work, and there is so much power in reaching out, connecting with and supporting each other 💛 當初加入新北國王隊，最吸引我的一點就是我們的核心團隊希望這支球隊不只是關於籃球而已。Phil和毛毛想打造一支能夠展現愛、禱告與信仰的球隊。 2024年12月，我們的球隊牧師 Clay在IG 上分享他抗癌成功、康復滿 12 年的見證。Shawn 是自2021年以來就支持國王隊的忠實球迷，他看到貼文後聯絡了 Clay，說這篇分享對他幫助很大，因為他剛得知自己罹患癌症第四期，正接受第三輪化療。Clay 有機會與他分享詩篇第23篇，並承諾會為他禱告。 到了5月，Shawn 終於完成了化療和放射治療，也恢復到足以親自來看國王隊比賽的體力。球隊特別安排了座位給Shawn和他的家人，讓他們能到場觀賞我們的例行賽最後一場主場比賽，我也有幸見到了Shawn和他的家人（包括他們以我命名的兒子 Jeremy）更棒的是，就在上週，Shawn收到了消息——他已經完全康復了！ 當我們看見這個世界發生的種種，很容易會感到絕望。但這些充滿盼望與連結的片刻提醒我：上帝仍在工作，而彼此伸出援手、建立連結、相互支持，真的有著極大的力量🙏🏻
