Matt McCarthy makes collages using one of the internet’s favorite subjects: cats. In his series “Warp Cats”, he stretches a single line of pixels from each image to create a strange, colorful effect. Like the image is melting or being pulled apart. The result is playful, a little weird, and hard to look away from. He works with both scissors and Photoshop, always keeping a handmade feel. For McCarthy, making art is as much about the process as the final result. These cats might look digital, but there’s care and curiosity behind every piece.
