“It was a very special birthday gift and very sentimental,” @kendalljenner says of her 2020 Airstream Bambi. “It was here in LA with me and I didn’t have much use for it. Then I thought, wait a minute, how cute would that be as a guest room?” With @heidicaillierdesign's help Jenner turned the diminutive trailer into a tiny guest house.

@kendalljenner traded minimalist glamour for a playful mountain escape that pushes her into new decorative territory, with help from #AD100 designer Heidi Caillier (@heidicaillierdesign). In Jenner’s first ground-up build, designed with architect Kirby Lee, she fulfilled her dream of creating a home filled with sentimental treasures and enough room to host all her beloved friends and family.

“When Frank asked me why I wanted him to design my house, I told him that I wanted to bring his creativity to Northern California,” homeowner and admirer of #AD100 architect Frank Gehry, Massy Mehdipour, tells AD. “People in this area needed to see it. I told him that I wanted this house to be his work of art.” With interiors by The Wiseman Group, the visionary architect’s latest project balances form and livable function.

For one cover story of our #AD100 issue, #AD100 firm @atelier_am_inc’s Alexandra and Michael Misczynski crafted a quietly glamorous home in one of New York City's most storied buildings. The pair created an elegant atmosphere by masterfully curating luxe materials and pieces with provenance to match the historic Art Deco apartment.

"I’ve found pleasure in slowing down—in losing myself looking at the façades of the buildings, and discovering, finally, the city’s secret of marrying old and new, its modus vivendi” explains Luca Bombassei (@luca_bombassei) of life in Venice. The Italian architect's philosophy has been beautifully brought to life in his 15th-century Palazzo, where the building's historical identity is masterfully punctuated by contemporary art and modern pieces.

A couple missed that “prolonged-dorm-early-20s” vibe of time with friends. So they decided to recreate it, buying a Greek Revival home with plenty of room for guests set on 25 acres in Germantown, New York.

With the help of Nina Garbiras of @fignyc, they turned the property into a welcoming retreat perfect for “adult sleepovers.”

“Every project is an opportunity to do something we haven’t done before,” says architect and interior designer Rafael de Cárdenas (@rafaeldecardenas.ltd), now in his 19th year in business, reflecting on the Upper East Side brownstone his firm recently completed. This commission could easily have been a quick fix, but de Cárdenas saw an opportunity to challenge both his and his clients’ expectations

A fresh start in Chicago called for fresh ideas, like swapping a formal dining room for a full wine lounge. In Lincoln Park, designer Lauren Buxbaum Gordon, a partner at @nateberkusassociates, transformed a newly renovated town house through thoughtful refinement, not demolition.

During the pandemic, an art-loving couple fell in love with Manhattan's West Village, an area they appreciated for its Parisian-like charm. So when they found this sunlit 19th-century town house opposite a park in that exact neighborhood, they knew it was meant to be.
Architect @jgneukomm_architecture and #AD100 designer @studiomellone preserved its historic character while opening it to light and giving their collection room to breathe.
