Bright blue clusters of star formation and red clumps of hydrogen shine among dark lanes of dust in this new Hubble image of the galaxy NGC 4536. Located about 50 million light-years away, NGC 4536 is what’s known as a “starburst” galaxy – meaning that it forms stars at a tremendous rate that uses up the gas in the galaxy relatively quickly. This is part of a series of new images from archival Hubble data. Find out more about these new cosmic views at the link in our bio as we get ready for the mission’s 35th anniversary next month! Image credit: NASA, ESA, and J. Lee (Space Telescope Science Institute); Processing: Gladys Kober (NASA/Catholic University of America) Image description: A spiral galaxy's core glows golden. Pink clumps of ionized hydrogen and blue clusters of stars, along with dark dust lanes, are visible in the arms. #NASA #Hubble #galaxy #space #science #stars #astronomy #universe #cosmos #telescope
