“On our side, the work consisted of visual direction and image creation, where we were responsible for the entire aesthetic and creative direction for the development of the image. Our task was to understand the program and characteristics of the project — a single-family residence for a family that appreciates good architecture and has a strong passion for wine. Lantern House is a quiet, minimal residence shaped by simple materials like concrete, stucco and wood, blending naturally with the neighborhood and the meadow-like garden that seems to surround it. Inside, everything is precise yet soft in character, with warm plaster walls, few objects and an emphasis on light. At the heart of the home, a double-height space lit from above by a large skylight organizes the rooms around a wooden structure that becomes the project’s “lantern.” Upstairs, the light grows dimmer and the darker materials create a more intimate atmosphere. Aren House by @bheiarchitects is a 340 m² private residence in Guimarães, Portugal, shaped by the interplay between raw concrete and the warmth of wood. Calm, horizontal volumes open generously to the landscape, allowing light to guide the architectural rhythm. Inside, timber surfaces soften the material palette, creating a quiet, intimate atmosphere that contrasts with the solidity of the concrete. At the heart of the home, a sculptural concrete staircase leads to the rooftop terrace, becoming a defining element of the spatial experience. A circular opening frames a single tree as a living centerpiece, reinforcing the project’s focus on contemplation and connection with nature. Conceived as an intimate drift between craft and commerce, the new Aesop store in Hamburg draws from the city’s maritime heritage to create a warm and sheltered interior world. Designed by the Aesop in-house team, the space translates the construction of traditional wooden boats into an enveloping atmosphere shaped by curved timber ribs, walnut and maple planks, and a textured oak floor that invites slow exploration. Just steps from the water in Überseequartier, the store evokes the quiet refuge of a cabin at sea while remaining connected to the social rhythm of the harbor city. In Kortrijk, Belgium, the historic monastic complex of the Groeninge Abbey is re-imagined as Abby Kortrijk, a layered civic architecture that is at once heritage and future. The intervention by BAROZZI VEIGA uncovers the original spatial poetry of the cloister and chapel, introduces a subterranean exhibition zone and a contemporary pavilion with recycled-brick façades, and cultivates a hybrid typology: neither museum-only nor purely preserved monument, but an open living room for art and public life. Rode House by @pezovonellrichshausen rises dramatically above the meadows of Chile’s Chiloé Island, its asymmetrical form born from the intersection of a cone and a cylinder. The resulting geometry creates two mirrored rooms, one bathed in warm sunlight, the other in cooler shade, connected by a central courtyard sheltered from the island’s rain and wind. The Friendship Pavilion for the 2024 Chengdu International Horticultural Exposition stands as a finely tuned expression of regional culture and sustainable modern architecture. Nestled amid the gently sloped terrain of Chengdu’s new development zone, the pavilion integrates sweeping curvilinear forms that evoke local tea-house courtyards, lotus ponds and bamboo groves. Its low-profile roof gently merges with landscape, while glazed walls and open courtyards invite fluid interaction between interior and exterior. Building materials and systems are chosen with environmental sensitivity in mind: recycled steel, locally sourced stone and timber references, and rain-water harvesting all contribute to a reduced carbon footprint. Its architecture is organized into a light timber pavilion above, for the couple’s daily life, and a grounded concrete volume below, embedded in the terrain for the family’s suites and pool. The design emphasizes honest materials, passive environmental strategies, such as a double roof for thermal efficiency, and spacious covered areas that blur interior and exterior.
